Renting with pets in London?

My husband and I may be relocating to the UK from the US soon with our 5 fur children (cats & yes we are following the PETS scheme already). I am wondering how hard it is to find a rental that allows animals, especially so many. They are all very good and non-destructive, but I don't know if the landlord would believe it. Any ideas or advice would be welcome!

  • Hi, unfortunately it can be difficult to find landlords who are pet friendly. There is a lot of information on the website below, such as writing your pets a CV and getting references for them. You could offer to pay a larger deposit and/or agree to have a clause added to the tenancy agreement regarding cleaning at the end of the tenancy etc. Good luck

  • Hi Cat, I know this is a REALLY late answer but it might help some people! This is a problem in the UK. There are avenues available to explore though! You could write an 'Animal CV' for your pet - here you can detail everything for your Landlord. There are also a few laws for animals such as Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Animal Health and Welfare Act (Scotland) 2006. You must provide all the animals’ basic needs, such as adequate food, water, exercise, a (suitable) place to live and access to a vet. You can also use animal friendly property portals that you can find easily by using Google. Hope that helps, check the link below if you want more information! Jeff Djevdet.
