I would say yes to that, if you do not know an area it is always best to get a feel, also you can then start looking for a property and not be rushed into making the wrong decision.

It is always advisable to research an area thoroughly before buying. Wimbledon is a large area so renting in one area may not give you a feel for where you can actually afford, the Village is a lot more expensive than the Chase area for example. You may be better off exploring the areas over a number of weekends and once you have narrowed it down start speaking to agents about prices.
