Renting being Unemployed

Dear all, I would like to know what the renting process is like for an unemployed person. I am willing to find a place together with my best friend (she is employed), however I am in the process of landing the dream job in the meantime. Besides, I am able to cover my rent for a long while as I do have savings and this wouldn't be a big matter. Nevertheless, I would like to find out how do Landlords/ Letting Agencies look at this situation before letting the flat. Best, Vio

  • Hello Vio - it can be more difficult, but not impossible. As a general rule of thumb, most landlords / lettings agents would look at 1/3 of the after-tax household income (for you and your friend) covering the total rent. So it may be the case that this would be sufficient. Failing that, do you have a guarantor that could vouch for you?
