  • Research your area you want to move into, actually visit all the agents that rent properties and sit down and discuss your personal situation, take supporting evidence of references and income/expenditure. Get a guarantor. Provide same info here. Accept rejection gracefully but ask for advice at every turn. If no agents will take you on, look at the small ads or contact private landlords directly they may be more flexible if you are completely honest and upfront and ask to meet face to face. Check your own credit file on the 3 credit reference agencies(via free links) and keep it clean and sorted as much as you can. A lot of leg work is needed and phone calls made. Good luck.
