Can I rent with a CCJ

I found out I have a CCJ (£450) when I did a credit check for myself. All the paperwork etc was sent to my old address so I genuinely didn't know.I am going to pay in full and try to get it set aside but I want to know if it will affect my chance of renting? I can offer a guarantor or even pay 6 months rent upfront. Please can someone let me know if this would be possible or not. Thank you!

  • Hello Gabriella, It can make things more difficult but, as long as you have a guarantor and pay the rent up front, I think you should be fine. As the creditor made an error with the postal address, you may also want to request a letter from them acknowledging the mistake that you can show to lettings agents / landlords. Best of luck. Thanks, Ruban
