If I wished to start a raffle for my house, could I advertise the raff?

Looking to start a raffle/ prize draw to sell my main property and wish to advertise to the broadest number of people possible

  • We've seen a few properties being raffled recently, they tend to be promoted through social media and the press. Maybe contact your local radio station or local news to see if they are interested in running a story. Some of the raffles also donate to charity, which can help. Raffling a property is a fairly new idea and there can be complications, I know some vendors have encountered problems with the gambling commission and there can be difficulties with payment providers (when taking payment for tickets). We've seen news stories about people losing a lot of money if they need to refund ticket holders for whatever reason, having to cover the cost of the payment providers commission/fee. I would recommend getting some legal advice before you attempt to raffle your house!

  • Hello - Do you mean auction your property?

  • I would agree with the last comment - perhaps it would be better / more secure to consider an auction as the bidding process will be the same and I would imagine that you´re better protected from a legal perspective.
