How to make an offer for a property?

I found a property that I liked, but I want to pay 40,000 pounds less than the asking price, but the estate agent told me the seller has rejected and offer which was 25,000 pounds less the asking price. I don't believe the agent, can I just ignore him and make the offer I want to make?

  • An estate agent has an obligation to put all offers over, however be careful not to alienate yourself from the agent!!!

  • If you make an offer the agent is bound to pass on that offer. It is worth doing as the offer that was only 25000 less may have been from someone who had not sold their own property and might not be procedable. Your offer 40,000 less might actually be more attractive. I would not be put off by the agent, put your offer in formally.
