Estate Agent did not get owners signature to sell property

Can one be charged if the Estate agent did not get the owners signature to sell a property but the owners partner (who doesn't own the property)? The owner took the property off the market after they discovered that they would have to pay whether the agents sold or did not sell their property BUT now has been hit with the bill of more than £1,000.00

  • Hello Christine, The contract is likely to be deemed invalid as it wasn't the owner that signed the contract. To be fair the estate agent should have done ID checks to verify that. Thanks, Ruban
