Sale of garden land.

A developer wants to buy a part of my garden so he can build a house. My land would become the garden of the new property. How do I value my land and what legalities do I have to follow?

  • Hello Jan - there would be a number of factors involved here, including: the size of the land plot, what local planners will allow, whether neighbours would oppose, the developer's own experience / track record. To start (and before signing anything), I would suggest asking to see what the developer is considering undertaking with your land and request for direct involvement in any conversations with the planning authority. Also, check the credentials of the developer itself (Companies House is usually a good place to start). Feel free to post any other questions you may have.
