What's the difference between "Sold STC" and "Under Offer"?

My current property is showing as "Under Offer" whereas the property I am purchasing is shown as "Sold STC" - what's the difference?

  • Nothing really, some agents say Under Offer some say Sold STC. The same agent may even say one thing on the website and another on the sign board. A pedantic interpretation might hold that 'under offer' applies until an offer is accepted and contract negotiations start at which point it may be considered STC until exchange.
