Think of a maisonette as nothing more than a halfway house between a flat and a family home? These 6 on Zoopla could change your mind.
To many of us, the term ‘maisonette’ means some sort of compromise. Perhaps a first or second step on the property ladder before you can afford a ‘fully-fledged’ home. Or the price you pay for living more centrally.
But – while they can be difficult to find – maisonettes come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and prices. Check out these six we’ve found on Zoopla, which range between £4m and £110,000.
What is a maisonette?
A maisonette is a home that’s part of a larger building. It’s typically split over two levels, although some can occupy a single floor. Maisonettes are usually sold as leasehold or share of freehold. However, in some cases, the freehold is available to buy.
What really defines a maisonette is that it has its own private entrance – which means no shared front doors or communal hallways.
