For this week’s property price twins, we have two very different detached properties that are on the market for £275,000. Which one would you like to own?

1. Four bedroom detached house in Culloden Avenue, The Hampdens, Norwich, for £275,000

Our first property, a 15 minute drive from the centre of Norwich, is an ideal family home. The current owner has maintained the property so well that it still looks brand new - but it would be easy for a family to make their own mark on the house.

At the epicentre of any family home is the kitchen and this house is no exception. It has a superb modern kitchen-breakfast room with plenty of space for all the family to get stuck into the cooking. Perks include a built-in double oven and hob with an extractor hood, built-in dishwasher and a separate utility room leading off the kitchen to keep all of that dreaded washing out of sight.

The house also has a separate lounge, cloakroom and dining room that could otherwise be used as a study – perfect for children with lots of homework. Upstairs, all four bedrooms come with plenty of storage space thanks to built-in wardrobes, while parents can enjoy a slice of tranquillity in the master bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom.

There is no shortage of outside space with this house as it sits on a corner plot. There is a good sized garden to the back of the house that is not overlooked by any neighbours, so children are free to be as noisy as they like without complaints. Plus, there is no need to worry about parking space as there is a driveway that leads straight to the garage.

2. Four bedroom detached house in Milton Street, St Marys, Brixham, Devon, for £275,000

Alternatively, this newly-converted chapel in the fishing town of Brixham in Devon is on the market for the same price. It would be perfect for history buffs or those on the lookout for something a bit quirky. Work on the conversion finished this year so the interior is as tip top and up-to-date as it can be.

The most striking features of the property are its beautiful stone exterior and the huge arched windows. But don't worry, there is no need to worry about forking out money for any DIY or repairs on the building, as the chapel has a new roof, gas central heating system, plumbing and wiring installed.

Inside, the property is equally full of character. The first floor offers an expanse of open plan living space, with its vaulted ceilings and arched windows. The older features contrast with the brand new white high-gloss kitchen, oak worktops, a built-in double oven, hob and dishwasher.

However, this property is far from conventional, as you might have guessed. While the kitchen and living area, separate utility room and fourth bedroom are on one floor, there are a three further bedrooms - including a master bedroom and ensuite shower room - downstairs.

The chapel does not have its own parking space, but the current owner has paid for a space at the garage adjacent to the chapel for the first 12 months. For those that prefer to walk, it is less than a 25 minute stroll down to Brixham harbour.
