X Factor house look familiar this year? That’s because it played host to the finalists in the 2013 series too. Here’s more about the luxury home – and some feasible alternatives.

Love it or loathe it, the 14th series of the X Factor has taken hold once again as the countdown to Christmas begins.

We did some digging and discovered the modern mansion on Zoopla. It’s in north London’s Winchmore Hill with an eye-watering rental cost of £5,000 a week.

With seven bedrooms, some of the 16 finalists will have to share until they start to be knocked out of the competition.

However, with six bathrooms and three receptions rooms there’s still plenty of space. And there’s always the gym or indoor pool to escape to.

It’s the second time the mansion – which was once owned by Lionel Richie – has been used by ITV. It also played home to the finalists of the 2013 series of the show.

Since then, the property has changed hands – being sold in January this year for £4.2m.

It’s now available to rent at £5,000 a week (or £21,667 a month) through Hamptons International – which is around £4,500 more than the £17,000 rent it would have fetched back in 2013.

If the show’s producers fancy trying somewhere new for 2018, we’ve got three ideal options on Zoopla – in a similar area and for a similar budget.

10-bedroom property in Barnet, north London

1. Property: 10-bedroom property in Barnet, north London

Rental cost: £20,000 a month

With 10 bedrooms, most of the finalists could have their own room in this listed Georgian mansion. And with six reception rooms they’d have no shortage of space to practice their songs in either. Other perks include rolling countryside views, a six-car garage and tennis court.

Seven-bedroom town house in Knightsbridge

2. Property: Seven-bedroom town house in Knightsbridge, London

Rental costs: £21,667 a month

This smartly-refurbished townhouse might be 10 miles from the X-Factor studios but – being a stone’s throw from Harrods and Hyde Park – it could be a compromise worth making.

Spread out over six floors (with its own lift to make life even easier), there are seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two kitchens and an indoor swimming pool with steam and sauna rooms.

Six-bedroom detached house in Park Village East

3. Property: Six-bedroom detached house in Park Village East, London
Rental costs: £19,912 a month

This dreamy Grade-II listed house near Regent's Park may have one less bedroom than this year’s property. But it’s oozing with character to compensate.

And with a dedicated media room, impressive dressing room and beautifully landscaped gardens, this property is a perfect fit for aspiring popstars.
