North east England was the best-performing region, with values climbing by 3.3% in the first six months of the year, according to the latest research from Zoopla.

Nearly £1,000 has been wiped off the average house price in the UK during the first six months of 2018. That's equivalent to £5.12 per day.

South west England was the worst-performing part of the country, with values dropping by 2.5%.

But some areas have bucked the trend. According to the latest research from Zoopla, north east England was the best-performing region, with property prices climbing by 3.3% since the start of the year.

At a more local level, Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria took the top spot as Britain’s best town for house price growth.
