We’re proud of our long history as Chartered Surveyors at Addisons.  Formerly J.R. Addisons & Co., the company was founded by Thomas Addison in the early 1900s and has served Barnard Castle and the wider dales ever since, providing expert advice on property, agriculture and valuation.

Headed by Principal Partner Simon Nixon, who has been a part of the company for nearly three decades since he started in 1985, he’s joined at the helm by David Coulson, Richard Duffus and Angela Coulson.

Backed by a team of surveyors, negotiators and office staff, Addisons have an established record of delivering excellent customer service time and time again, something we’re extremely proud of.

With long held traditions integrated with a modern day practice, the company opened a new office in Richmond in 2011, before merging with Broadley and Coulson in 2012, resulting in a further office in Crook.

Serving clients throughout the North of England, covering County Durham, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland, we continually aim to provide professional and dynamic advice related to all of the services we deliver – and most importantly, to the high customer service levels originally set by Thomas Addison almost 100 years ago.

Why Choose Addisons?

Market Leading Estate Agency Software

We have invested in the most innovative estate agency software on the market. This has helped to streamline our service and better manage our substantial mailing list, allowing our negotiators more time to spend chasing buyers and sales and keeping you informed of progress.

Website to Connect with Purchasers

We have worked with web designers to create a bespoke website that better connects with purchasers. Lots of estate agency websites focus on attracting sellers, leaving buyers frustrated. We have designed our site to be user friendly and compatible with mobile devices, making it easy for buyers to find your property. We want to promote the area you live in too so we have included lots of useful and practical local information for buyers, along with all the reasons why it’s great to live in your locality!

Open Door

We launched Open Door this year, an innovative piece of software that allows us to provide a truly transparent service. You can login to Open Door 24/7 to track the progress of the marketing and sale of your property, check viewing feedback and read notes added by your negotiator.

Open Door is not intended to replace phone calls or the important relationship our experienced negotiators build with our clients. We appreciate our vendors are busy people and speaking during office hours is not always practical, Open Door allows us to carry on communicating 24/7.

Online Presence

We have online advertising covered. We understand the importance of the leads we receive via property websites and Addisons will advertise your property on 15 sites, including Rightmove, Zoopla and Primelocation.

Our in-house photographer will endeavor to show your property at its very best.

Number 13 Magazine

Number 13 is our in house, property based, magazine with a lifestyle element which promotes the areas we do business in. Based around the rooms in a house, the magazine has a gained a loyal following and has been a successful platform to advertise our properties in.

Community

We established Addisons Community Initiative to champion the local areas we sell property in. Surely the best way to sell your home is to sell the area you live in too and we want to celebrate all the wonderful schools, businesses, individuals and organisations we are lucky enough to have. Watch out for community collaborations near you!

Standards

Addisons pride itself on professionalism and integrity. We choose to be bound by the standards set by the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), the NAEA (National Association of Estate Agents) and the Ombudsman Services.

Accompanied Viewings

Viewings are crucial to securing a sale, however not all of our clients can be available to do viewings themselves. Addisons have a team of dedicated accompanied viewers who will show potential purchasers round your property with professionalism and integrity.

Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

It is necessary to obtain an Energy Performance Certificate before you begin to market your property for sale. Addisons will put you in touch with a qualified energy assessor who can complete this for you along with a floor plan which is an invaluable visual aid.

Surveys and Valuations

Once we have found you a purchaser for your property, we may be able to assist you in the purchase of your next home or investment. Be it carrying out a valuation or a survey, we pride ourselves on providing professional advice you can trust.
