Chesters Commercial was established in 2014 having evolved from Humberts Commercial, which was itself established for nearly 20 years and traded until recently under a franchise agreement with Chesterton Humberts. We have expertise in all areas of the commercial property market including property agency, valuation, planning and development and leasehold advisory. David is a Director of Chesters Commercial Ltd Chartered Surveyors having formerly been a Director of Humberts Commercial (Yeovil) Ltd and Partner of Bruton Knowles. David re-joined Nigel at Humberts Commercial in 2009 having spent the previous 15 years with Bruton Knowles but having qualified under the tutelage of Nigel at Humberts where he spent the first few years of his career starting in Chippenham before moving to Yeovil. David is a Chartered Surveyor and registered RICS Valuer having been elected an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2000 and previously an Associate of the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers elected in 1993. David is a General Practice surveyor advising a diverse range of clients on mainly property valuation and agency matters.
Nigel Jones FRICSDirector
Nigel qualified as a Chartered Surveyor having been awarded an Honours Degree in Estate Management at the University of Reading in 1977. He became a Fellow of the RICS in 1990 and was elected as a member of the RICS Presidents Panel of Experts and Arbitrators in 1996. It was the same year that he established Humberts Commercial (Yeovil) Ltd having previously been a Partner of Humberts Chartered Surveyors. More recently, his practice has been operating within the Chesterton Humberts Group. Nigel established Chesters Commercial in 2014, the company having evolved from his former company.Nigel heads the office and advises landowners, developers, landlords and occupiers on a diverse range of property matters. He specialises in valuation issues relating to strategic development land, site disposal/assembly and viability. With an enviable client list, Nigel provides development consultancy advice to a diverse range of companies including property developers, house builders and landowners.In addition Nigel regularly receives appointments throughout the UK from the RICS as an Arbitrator or Independent Expert on complex development land issues including viability and Section 106 negotiations. He also regularly acts as an Expert Witness on significant negligence claims in development land matters.
John Read MRICSSurveyor and Valuer
John is a Chartered Surveyor specialising in property development having recently joined Chesters Commercial. John relocated to the South West in 2007 the same year as he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. John joined King Sturge in Exeter which later became JLL. John is a registered Valuer with extensive residential and commercial development experience focusing on viability and valuation. His technical skills are excellent and the more complex the issue the better. Nigel and John work closely together and are a force to be reckoned with having an enviable reputation in the complex world of land development and where John is firmly establishing himself in his own right.
