Property description

We were wandering down Orford Road the other day with Paul from the e-List, heading for a meeting in The Queens Arms (no, honestly, it was a meeting, and the fact that Laurence the publican persuaded us to have a drink whilst there shouldn't detract from that point). Anyway, we say wandering – stop/starting would be more accurate, as every time we started off we bumped into someone we knew and stopped for a chat. Sam from The Bakery, Danny at the Window Gallery, Mark at Finamore – everyone seemed to be out and about, enjoying the weather, and it struck us once again what a great place Walthamstow Village is to live and work. It's such a genuinely warm and friendly place, where your neighbours aren't just the people next door, but on the next street or the street after that. Whether walking the kids to school, or wandering along Orford Road to pick up a pint of milk, you are bound to bump into someone you know, so don't be surprised if even the shortest of short strolls ends up taking more time than you imagine…

In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary

Despite what people may tell you, Walthamstow Village was not invented by estate agents. It’s called Walthamstow Village because it was once exactly that, a village. Once the administrative heart of Walthamstow, the Village is now content to simply be the neon capital of Europe. An unlikely claim you might think, but visit God’s Own Junkyard on Ravenswood industrial estate and you’ll see what I mean.
When your mind has been blown by the neon, pop in to Mother’s Ruin Gin Palace and Wildcard Brewery. All three businesses are based on Ravenswood, making it the most exciting industrial estate on the planet. The Village is full of quiet residential streets that all have easy access to bucket loads of pubs and restaurants. Take in the Jazz at the Nag’s Head on Sunday afternoon, enjoy the excellent food and beer at the Queens Arms, and sample the legendary chicken and bacon jam burger at Eat17.
To walk off all the food you’ve eaten, wander to the 15th century Ancient House, check out St Mary’s Church and its ivy clad church yard, have a pint in the garden at the Castle Pub, then admire the art in the windows of the old iron mongers.

Living Here...

At 84 square metres (or just over 900 square feet if you prefer) this is a sizeable house for the Village. Forming part of an attractive Victorian terrace, constructed in yellow London brick, this is a house that will suit a young family wanting to be part of the Village community, but also looking for room to grow. On the ground floor there are two reception rooms and kitchen, whilst upstairs you will find three bedrooms and the family bathroom - plenty of space for the family to expand into. Outside, there is a lovely paved rear garden, which is currently in full bloom.
