No. 7 Bristol Hill was built around 1900 and was the village shop for nearly 90 years including during both World Wars so it's not short of history and character! It closed as a shop in 1988 to become a private residence, though the council have indicated they would consider it reverting to a shop if the owner wanted to discuss it with them.

Shotley Gate is a quiet and attractive village situated right on the shores of Harwich Harbour. This busy yet ancient port was charted by Samuel Pepys in 1686 and continued it's Naval history until recent times as the village was home to hms Ganges, the training establishment for Royal Naval recruits from 1910 to 1976. The famous ceremonial mast still standing and about to be restored, along with a lot of the buildings on the site.
A short stroll around Shotley Point, past the Bristol Arms pub with its superb views across Erwarton Bay and the old Admiralty piers lies Shotley Marina with a lovely bar and restaurant which looks straight out into the busy harbour. With a sailing club, many nature reserves and riverside walks to explore and a regular ferry to Harwich, there is never a shortage of things to do for all ages. It really is a great place to spend time.

With tall ceilings and great views of the River Stour, the house has an airy and relaxed feel to it. The open fireplace in the lounge is fully operational and the recent oil fired central heating is effective and very efficient. The master and second bedrooms are generously sized and continue the spacious feel of the property. There is access to the rear via an in unpathed lane, where there is a small driveway, a large workshop/garage and direct access to the garden, which is mainly laid to a terraced patio with borders - a real sun-trap.

The owner is regretfully moving from the area and has (finally!) found a new home closer to work, and so has recently reduced the asking price to prompt a quick sale. Viewing at the soonest convenience is highly recommended!
