Willy Wilcox Cottage is a truly unique grade II listed cottage nestled into the cliff side over Polperro's working fishing harbour. Just feet from the beach with stunning views over the harbour and sea this property is one not to miss. With its bright blue door and shutters appearing on numerous paintings and postcards of Polperro, it is one of its historic landmarks previously belonging to the late 18th century fisherman, Willy Wilcox.
The cottage comprises of 4 double bedrooms, one with en suite, a family bathroom, utility room, kitchen/breakfast room and living room. There are two terraced areas, one of which is located to the top left of the property where unobstructed views are enjoyed over the harbour and picturesque rooftops of Polperro.

Views are well appreciated from all principal rooms in the house over the harbour, which is perfect for watching the waves crash in on a winters day. The character and charm has been well preserved throughout including the beamed ceilings made from the original old ship timbers. The living room has a deep bay window as a perfect vantage point with seating to enjoy the views. It has an open fire with a copper canopy and an ancient pickling well for nets. This well and the mysterious narrow passage which still runs between the cliff face and the cottage are illuminated and visible from the sitting room, through a glazed window which creates an intriguing feature. The kitchen/dining room is fully fitted to a contemporary standard.

To the first floor there are four bedrooms, one of which comprises en suite. Another gives access outside to a cliff side terrace enjoying unobstructed harbour views over the beach. There is also a utility room with access out to a rear terrace and another entrance out on to the quay.
Willy Wilcox, after whom the cottage is named, was an 18th Century fisherman, reputedly involved in smuggling. He was trapped by the sea whilst secreting contraband into the cave on the beach below. Rumour has it there is a secret passageway leading from the cave to the cottage!

Polperro is a picturesque historic fishing village along the South Coast in Cornwall, with its quaint narrow streets and colour washed cottages nestled into the valley surrounding the working fishing harbour with a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The National Trust South Coastal Path is directly accessible from the property providing fantastic walking along this unspoiled coastline.
Looe, Polruan and Fowey are all also within a close proximity to here and are all also quaint fishing harbours with plenty to do and look around. Looe is of a slightly bigger size and hosts a golf club, tennis club, sailing and rowing clubs. It also has a rail line to Liskeard which connects with the main line from Penzance to London Paddington. Liskeard also hosts an array of shops including 2 supermarkets.

The property is available as a private residence or fully equipped with website and marketing materials for ongoing holiday letting use or as a turn-key second home, the owners also highly recommend their current housekeeper.

There is vehicular access to approx a 100m walk from the property also a private parking space approx. A 300m walk from the property.

Willy Wilcox has been a successful holiday let for many years with many returning customers. In 2016-17 the Cottage was rented for 317 nights which is just under 87%. On this they grossed £55,496.31. This included the owners booking the cottage out for a couple of weeks and long weekends themselves.

The property is in a fantastic location in Cornwall, with easy access to the rest of the County right down to Lands End. Cornwall forms a peninsula encompassing wild moorland and hundreds of sandy beaches, culminating at the promontory Land’s End. The south coast, dubbed the Cornish Riviera, is home to picturesque harbour villages such as Polperro, Fowey and Falmouth. The north coast is lined with towering cliffs and seaside resorts like Newquay, known for surfing.

There is always plenty to do and see from Cornwall's picturesque beaches to fun days out for all the family. The Eden Project is approx. 21 miles from here, which offers lots to do for all the family rain or shine! There are so many places to visit whether you are looking for family fun days out or coastal walks. Polperro is just 19 miles from Saltash where the bridge joins from Devon so you aren't ever very far from the dual carriageway and days out in Devon too. There are plenty of National Trust landmarks available to see and walk around such as Lanhydrock and Cornwalls coastal paths.
