The historic town of Lewes is about 8 miles to the north east and the centre of London about 57 miles. Sporting and recreational facilities include sailing from Brighton Marina, about 2.5 miles, golf at a variety of Downland, links and parkland courses within Sussex and racing at Brighton, Plumpton, Lingfield and Goodwood. Glyndebourne Opera House is about 12 miles.
