Description

Fine four bedroom detached house of 1764 square feet. Historically partly a shop, the period property sits on an enviable corner plot on a quiet, leafy residential East Dulwich street close to Peckham Rye Park and Common, and incorporates a generous garage. Plus there’s a large and low-maintenance garden on two sides. Generous rooms (are the pervading theme…) and a huge roof terrace - off the similarly huge master bedroom - make for extremely welcome and rare-to-find features. The house is in good order throughout, with a neutral and timeless decorative scheme. Freehold.

You’ve a paved front garden to the front and the front door opens into a small lobby area before you open directly into the substantial main reception room of 18 feet by 16 feet (big furniture it is!). Moving through the house, next on your right is the pleasing kitchen with modern fitted units taking two walls, and a large window to the garden. Next you arrive at the dining room which lies part open-plan to the kitchen which is a wise design choice for family life or equally for entertaining. This room’s 19 feet long so can take a well-attended Christmas dinner or such. French doors open from here onto the garden. To the left of this room, and completing the floor, find a generous utility room plus a downstairs shower room.

Access the big garage from the garden. You could convert this with relevant permissions if you preferred; adding more internal living space. Street access is of course available for vehicle/s or feet.

Up the stairs and to the half landing, the main bathroom is up ahead, with both independent shower and free-standing bath. All the sanitaryware is white and modern in style. Adjacent is a double bedroom with built in storage. And next door to that another double with built-in storage once again. Up to the main landing and a third double bedroom sits off to your right, while the master awaits up ahead. Sitting over the main reception, it has an impressive footprint and large window onto street views. An en suite shower room ties the tour off nicely. Not forgetting the large paved roof terrace which is landed upon from a door from this room.

For stations, you’ve got three to choose from in easy-walking distance: Honor Oak Park (fare zone 3), East Dulwich (2) and Peckham Rye (2). Day and night bus routes are also easily enjoyed, from Peckham Rye. As well as being close to Peckham Rye Park and Common’s 113 acres (walk five minutes), you have handy neighbourhood shops, cafes and restaurants on both Forest Hill Road and Lordship Lane. North Cross Road Saturday market is also local. Our favourite nearby cafes are Cafe G and Cafe On The Rye. More independent, high street offerings and markets are close at hand in central Peckham, Nunhead and Honor Oak. Further green spaces in easy reach are: Horniman Gardens, Goose Green, Nunhead Cemetery (one of ‘The Magnificent Seven’) and One Tree Hill.

Local cinemas are East Dulwich Picturehouse and Peckham Plex (rooftop films also available atop The Bussey Building in the warm months). For social meets, Watson’s General Telegraph and The Herne Tavern are your closest public houses, in handsome Victorian buildings and with outside areas. Bellenden Road also isn’t far for top restaurants including Artusi and Ganapati. Other great dining options in SE15 include Taco Queen, Banh Banh, Mr Bao, Miss Tapas and Peckham Bazaar. Mamma Dough and Babur in the Honor Oak area are also highly recommended. East Dulwich leisure centre is a short stroll away, or you can ‘sign up’ for British Military Fitness workouts on Peckham Rye.

Local schools are well-regarded and include Goodrich, Heber, Fairlawn, Horniman and St Anthony’s (Catholic) primaries.
