West Ashling village has an excellent local public house as well as a primary school and village hall. The nearby village of Funtington also has a local farm shop and public house, whilst there is an organic butchers at Adsdean.

Chichester city centre offers an excellent range of shops, cafes and restaurants and the skyline is dominated by the 12th century cathedral. Chichester is well known for its internationally renowned Festival Theatre and Pallant House Gallery. The Goodwood Estate a little further afield hosts the annual Festival of Speed and the Revival meeting at its historic motor circuit and also has a full horse-racing calendar including Glorious Goodwood. Sailing is one of the predominant pastimes on the coast, with sailing clubs at Bosham, Itchenor and Dell Quay. The Blue Flag beaches at West Wittering can be found approximately 12 miles to the south and the surrounding countryside is an ideal place for country walks, horse riding and mountain biking.
