Description

Nestled away at the end of a private lane, Raveley Barn is a stunning semi-detached barn conversion, completed in 2012. The contemporary finishes are tastefully blended with traditional character timbers. Arranged over one floor, is four generous double bedrooms, three modern bathrooms, a sitting room, study, dining room, and a stunning kitchen breakfast family room with bi-folding doors. A triple garage with block-paved drive offers parking. The gardens envelop the property on two sides, as well as an enclosed south-facing courtyard garden and a three-acre paddock to the East side of the property. There is a bridleway by Tilbrook Mill Farm connecting through local villages and the Keysoe College Equestrian Centre is just over 7 miles away. The property is in the catchment for Ofsted ‘Good’ Kimbolton Primary Academy and Ofsted ‘Good’ Longsands Academy.

Lower Dean is a hamlet on the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border, about 3 miles from Kimbolton where shops, a gp, pharmacy, and the renowned private Kimbolton School can be found. The small village of Tilbrook, edged by the River Til, is less than a mile away boasting the beautiful All Saints Church with an intricate original Rood-Screen, of which the western part is now situated in the Victoria and Albert Museum. It has an active community centred around the Village Hall, with a playing field and clubs. The White Horse Pub Restaurant hosts the annual ‘Tilfest – Real Ale and Music Festival, ’ and Tilbrook Grange Farm Shop is home to their prize-winning Red Ruby Devon Beef. Neighbouring Upper Dean boasts a pub restaurant, lower school, Church, and Dalton Community Hall hosting the annual Dean Flower and Country Show, alongside all-weather tennis and netball courts, a cricket pitch, play area, sports pavilion, ‘Forest School’ playgroup and the allotment society. St. Neots town is about 20 minutes away, with a rail station offering links to London Kings Cross from 40 minutes. Central Cambridge is less than 30 miles away.

Raveley Barn is a very stylish barn conversion that enjoys a wonderfully picturesque location in the glorious Cambridgeshire countryside. “When we were out for a drive one day, we happened to notice a For Sale board outside this beautiful barn conversion, ” say the owners. “At that time, we were perfectly happy in our old house and had no intention of moving, but we both immediately knew that this place was somewhere really rather special, we were totally sold. We put our house on the market the very next day and secured the purchase of the barn shortly afterwards. After spending four very happy years here, we can honestly say that it’s a house that has lived up to all expectations.”

“The property was converted from an old agricultural building that once housed chickens and turkeys. It has a modern free-flowing layout, there’s a wonderful feeling of both light and space throughout, and although the interior design is quite contemporary, there are features such as the exposed timbers that give it real character and charm. We have a gorgeous open plan kitchen breakfast family room that flows seamlessly into the dining area, there’s a large separate living room, and the bedrooms have been arranged in such a way that the master suite is over on one side of the house, while the other three are across on the other side, so there’s a nice degree of separation when friends or family come to stay.”

“The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous and because it’s very open plan, it’s a lovely space to entertain in, ” say the owners, “but our other favourite is the living room. It’s a large but very cosy-feeling room, especially when we have the fire roaring away. It’s a house that we simply can’t fault in any way and it’s been a fantastic home.”

“A real plus point of the house is the fact that it has lots of outside space, ” continue the owners. “We have a large sheltered courtyard that’s a totally private suntrap, there’s a large garden to the front of the property, and a huge side garden in which we keep chickens. We also have a three-acre paddock just across the driveway, so if the new owners wanted to keep a pony, there’s more than enough space.”

“It’s the utter peace and tranquility of the location that we really enjoy, you can literally hear a pin drop at night, and we love the fact that it’s an absolute haven for wildlife, ” say the owners. “Although we enjoy this glorious rural location, we’re by no means isolated. We have Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre just a short drive away, with a Waitrose in Rushden too. Kimbolton has a highly sought-after school and is only three miles away, and I can be in Cambridge city centre in well under an hour.”

“We have a large triple garage just across the driveway, and the roof area has been boarded, so we have lots of storage space, ” say the owners. “And it’s fully alarmed, as is the house, so very safe and secure.”

“One of our friends once described Raveley Barn as a little drop of heaven and i’d say that just about sums it up perfectly, ” says the owner. “We’ll be sad to leave, but we feel it’s time to move on to pastures new and let someone else enjoy all that this very special home has to offer.”
