Situation The Gillean Township is a newly created crofting township situated on the Sleat Peninsula at the southern end of the Isle of Skye. The Township is in a lovely rural location. The Township consists of three crofts with Planning Permission In Principle for a croft house on each. Each croft site is sold with crofting tenure in place, giving the successful purchaser the opportunity to continue with the crofting tradition.
Sleat is made up of a number of crofting townships where the crofting tradition and way of life still continues today.
These townships stretch across Sleat from the hills to the sea taking advantage of fertile lower lying ground.
The Sleat Peninsula offers a gentle landscape compared to the rugged mountains that are prominent in the north of Skye, separated by a distance of only 50 miles.
The sites benefit from being close to facilities and amenities, whilst enjoying a rural setting and fine countryside views. The village of Armadale is situated approximately 7 miles away and provides local amenities such as: Primary School, College, Medical Centre, Village Shop, Post Office, Garage & Petrol Station, and Ferry Terminal to the mainland. Further amenities are located in Broadford which is approximately 19 miles to the north. The east coast of Sleat also enjoys The Clan Donald Centre which boasts a restaurant, museum and 40 acres of castle gardens containing magnificent trees and plants from around the world.
In addition to the gardens there are a series of woodland walks at Armadale which pass through areas of pasture leading onto open views of the surrounding landscape.
Description In addition to the fantastic location the crofts extend to between approximately 6.33 acres (2.565 Ha) and 7.91 acres (3.204 Ha). All enjoy superb views of the surrounding area along with sea views to the west. The land is undulating and made up of predominately rough hill ground along with areas of in-bye land.
Each site is sold with crofting tenure in place and includes a share to Gillean Common Grazing which extends to approximately 123.55 Acres (50 Ha). The crofts are unfenced and it will be the purchaser's responsibility to enclose their croft with stock fencing around their property; in addition there will be a shared responsibility for fencing Gillean Common Grazing.
