Description

Alkham Valley View certainly lives up to its name. With stunning and uninterrupted views across the valley and round to Folkestone and the coast you could never tire of watching the panoramic vista laid out before you. Indeed, as you go through the entrance and sweep up to the front porch across the large open frontage, the sight across the valley will take your breath away. This fascinating and extended chalet bungalow nestles in 0.660 acres of grounds and offers something for everyone. Whether you have a large family, need to provide a home for elderly relatives or adult children or want to run a bed and breakfast or holiday lets, this versatile property can accommodate any of these requirements. It includes two annexes and a detached studio apartment while the main property incorporates a good sized lounge/diner, large kitchen/breakfast room and five double bedrooms.

The charming lounge/diner has floor to ceiling glazed doors to the front garden and terrace as well as a charming stone fireplace, stairs to the first floor and leads to the delightful kitchen/breakfast room that is the real hub of the household. It includes plenty of storage units with a range cooker, an impressive integrated double fridge freezer and a dishwasher as well as a decked balcony overlooking the large rear garden. There is a spacious inner hall and three double bedrooms, a family bathroom and utility room/cloakroom as well as a vast walk in airing/storage cupboard. However one of the bedrooms could always become an office while another would make an excellent formal dining room if required. Upstairs there is a double bedroom overlooking the valley with stunning views and an en suite wet room plus the master that has an en suite bathroom, a vast walk in store room and vaulted ceiling loft room as well as an adorable glass ‘look out' where you can stand and admire the view on three sides.

At one end of the property with its own separate entrance is a two bed apartment known as ‘The Mount'. On the ground floor there is a fully equipped kitchen including an oven, hob, fridge freezer and washing machine as well as a spacious living room and bathroom. On the first floor you will find two bedrooms including the double with an en suite cloakroom. At the other end of the chalet bungalow is a single storey studio apartment entitled ‘Valley View Studio' with a bed/sitting room, fitted kitchen and a range of appliances together with a shower room.

What the Owner says:
“I came here in 2009 and started the bed and breakfast and holiday let business about a year later and it has proved to be very successful and could be continued by new owners. I fell in love with the views, the privacy and the business opportunity and have enjoyed extending the chalet bungalow and developing my business. However I feel that it is time to start a new chapter in my life and I have decided to retire. The area is very convenient as we are on a bus route between Folkestone and the city of Canterbury with its historic buildings, high street stores, myriad of pubs and restaurants, theatres and cinemas as well as two universities and a wide variety of private and state schools.

The village of Hawkinge is a charming and friendly place with plenty of activities. There is the well attended cricket and social club as well as a football club, four pubs including the White Horse that is virtually opposite the house and serves delicious food and the historic Cat and Custard Pot along with the Battle of Britain Museum. You will also find a number of takeaways, a restaurant and an enormous state-of-the-art Lidl for all your grocery shopping plus a dentist and doctor's surgery. There are stables in the village for anyone who enjoys riding and plenty of places to enjoy wonderful walks with the dog. As well as the regular bus service you can be on the M20 motorway in a minute for Ashford, Dover and London while Folkestone is close by so you can even pop over to France.
