West Lodge is reputedly one of Henry Eighth’s hunting lodges, and one of few ancient buildings remaining in one of Queen Victoria’s favourite village retreats.
West Lodge sits atop The Surrey Hills, right on Esher village Green opposite the local Church and Surrey’s best pub, with sweeping lawns and distant views as far as Wembley Stadium’s famous arch and you can see (but not hear) jets landing at London Heathrow. Our own little palace blends Tudor and Gothic architecture, with England’s oldest surviving Lodge House Gothic windows.
Real stuff of fairy tale legends – Heathrow and Gatwick are easily accesbile and we are a short walk to stations which can get you in the City of London in under 40 minutes, and we walk just two minutes to Waitrose, village restaurants and the cinema.
New owners can expect passing tourists to ask "how old is your lovely property?", and we relish in telling enquirers that our home is a very happy one - wonderfully, atmospheric and romantic, all of the neighbours are friendly as were some previous long-time owners, including a Royal Navy commodore who beamed his home with ancient timbers from England’s fighting fleets.
