Blackhorse Road station sits at the junction of Blackhorse Road and Blackhorse Lane. The name is actually a mispronunciation of Black House, a grand old house that once stood near St James Street. Blackhorse Road runs through the heartland of the old Warner estate. If the road was an artery, then its veins would be the quiet tree lined streets of red brick half house flats that lead off many of its junctions. Have a wander down Edward Road and marvel at number 108. This beautiful tiled building is now flats, but once belonged to Truman's Brewery. It is simply glorious. Stoneydown Park is a great park with a kids’ playground, and the perfect spot to sit with an ice cream in the summer. Behind the park is Bonner’s Fish Bar which, according to some, is the best chip shop in Walthamstow. Quiet streets, good transport links, free music, and the best chippy - what more could you want?
