Converted from an old Welsh farm into a gracious residence plus splendid homely guest accommodation Penbontbren is a rare gem. Meaning “above the wooden bridge”, Penbontbren is the ideal place to experience a unique break away with a truly Welsh flavour. Beaming with character a guest could choose to sleep in the farmhouse cottage, the Garden Room B&B or in the B&B Suites which were originally the stable, the threshing barn, the mill or even the granary. Each of the properties has been carefully converted to maintain the traditional character of the original farm.
Proudly achieving a Cymru Wales Gold Award every year since opening, Good Hotel Guide and Alistair Sawday’s Hotel of the Year, the entire complex is impressive. A high quality renovation
meticulously maintained with continued improvements and enhancements. The business is thriving with repeat visitors booking year after year and outstanding, flawless reviews achieving ‘Winner in 2016’ on Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Awards.
Indulging in a stay at Penbontbren provides an experience of peace, calm, and tranquillity coupled with comfortable, well-appointed accommodation with sumptuous décor and furnishings, providing a perfect base from which to explore the picturesque beaches, unspoiled towns, and beautiful countryside of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
The original Penbontbren farm was built in approx. 1860 and maintained its sheep & cattle farming heritage until 1985. A farm-to-hotel conversion occurred in 1985 taking almost 3 years to create the splendid rural hotel enjoyed by enthusiastic guests year after year.
Boasting wooden beams and fireplaces Penbontbren farmhouse is beaming with traditional rural character. The conversion was so highly regarded that Country Landowners Association awarded a ‘Best farm building conversion in Wales & West of England’.
In 2010 the hotel had a major refurbishment after 15 years of trading as a hotel. The current owners have since transformed Penbontbren to the impressive and profitable estate it is today.
