About this property
This singular four-bedroom home sits on the fringes of Braunton, North Devon. Its façade is defined by cedar cladding and a trio of domed, zinc-clad roofs, while Crittall-style windows frame far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. Designed with eco credentials at its core, the house is fitted with an mvhr system and has underfloor heating throughout. The golden, sandy beaches of Saunton, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe are a short drive away, while the rugged headlands of Exmoor are also close by.
The Tour
A large private driveway sweeps up to the house, its borders filled with lush trees and greenery. Entry is to the rear, via a smart decked courtyard. A welcoming entrance hall leads to a spectacular open-plan kitchen, sitting and dining area with a barrel-vaulted ceiling. Full-height Crittall-style windows frame far-reaching views of the surrounding countryside and mesmerising sunsets. In the kitchen, smart Alno cabinetry is fitted with Corian work surfaces. Appliances include a gas hob, two Miele ovens and an integrated dishwasher and American-style fridge freezer.
A large sitting room lies adjacent. It has an integrated log burner, and is illuminated by floor-to-ceiling glazing at each end. To the rear, sliding doors open onto the garden. On this floor there is also a guest WC and a utility room.
Four double bedrooms are found on the lower ground floor, each with fitted storage and French doors. Two have en suite shower rooms, and the principal also has a dressing area. The plan is completed by a study and a shared bathroom.
The home is also fully alarmed with integrated smoke and heat detectors.
Outdoor Space
The house is embraced by beautifully landscaped gardens, planted with an array of tropical and native plants. On each level, decked courtyards provide ample opportunities for sitting out.
A double garage provides secure parking.
The Area
Braunton is a thriving village that forms part of the celebrated North Devon National Landscape. The area is widely considered one of the best surfing spots in the UK, and the golden, sandy beaches of Saunton, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe are all a short drive away.
The South West coastal path, which passes the house, and the nearby Tarka Trail are among many of the extensive hiking routes in the area, alongside the spectacular landscapes of Exmoor National Park to the east. Even closer to home is the Braunton Burrows unesco Biosphere Reserve, a vast sand dune system that is home to a variety of rare plants.
Braunton has a range of useful amenities, including a doctors’ surgery, three primary schools, a secondary school and two supermarkets. The market town of Barnstaple can be reached in 17 minutes and has a more extensive range of amenities, including an impressive Art Deco cinema and a local theatre.
Barnstaple rail station runs services to Exeter St Davids in just over an hour; services connect from here to London Paddington in a little over two hours.
