Meticulous consideration has been applied to every aspect of the design to create a property that offers the best of contemporary living. The house offers over 5,250 sq. Ft. Of flexible living space, plus a 534 sq. Ft. Terrace, with the reception rooms arranged on the first floor to take full advantage of the panoramic sea views.

The spacious entrance hall is accessed via a suspended bridge with glass and stainless steel balustrades. The main living space is provided in the large sitting room which has a Morsø wood burner and two sets of full height windows providing astounding sea views. Sliding doors lead to a spacious terrace, positioned to take full advantage of the magnificent surrounding landscape. The kitchen has a fabulous oak framed
interior window, beautifully framing the panoramic views from the sitting room, creating an open-plan feel. There is a large kitchen island with a breakfast bar, plus an excellent range of high quality integrated appliances including a filter tap, boiling water tap, wine cooler, integrated dishwasher, induction hob, recirculating extractor fan with sensors for moisture and heat, freezer, oven, combi oven/microwave, warming drawer and refrigerator. An archway leads to the dining room which enjoys yet more incredible views and there is another set of sliding glass doors to the terrace. Completing the first floor is a large office
which could also be used as a sixth double
bedroom if required, a sleek contemporary
shower room, a utility room, plus a pantry
adjacent to the kitchen.

A striking, engineered, bespoke “floating” staircase leads to the ground floor, encased in a curved wall of glass. Accessed from the hallway, a media room with speakers fitted within the ceiling, provides a flexible space which could be used as a gym, games room or easily adapted to create a cinema room. There are five large double bedrooms on the ground floor. The dual aspect master bedroom benefits from full height windows and sliding glass doors that take full advantage of the views, as well as a dressing room that leads through to a contemporary en suite shower room. Bedroom two also benefits from outstanding views, sliding doors to the gardens and an en suite shower room, whilst bedroom three has a dressing room and en suite shower room. Bedroom four also has an en suite shower room, and bedroom five is situated opposite the family bathroom which is beautifully presented, featuring an Ashton and Bentley bath as well as a walk-in rain shower. A laundry room with an integrated washer/dryer completes the ground floor.

Bay View House occupies a truly unique position on the beautiful South Devon coastline. The property is surrounded by the beautiful rural South Devon landscape, to one side is rspb protected woodland, meaning Bay View House enjoys the rare benefit of both coast and countryside views. It is also ideally situated for those who enjoy walking, with easy access to the South West Coast Path; England’s longest waymarked long-distance footpath and a National Trail. It stretches for 630 miles, running from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset.

Shaldon village, approximately 2 miles away, lies at the mouth of the River Teign and has an excellent range of facilities including a number of shops, a Post Office, chemist, gp surgery, four churches, a selection of inns and Shaldon Primary school. Shaldon also has the smallest zoo in the South West, run by the Shaldon Wildlife Trust. The village has a sandy beach, moorings for boats and yachts in the estuary and a sailing club.

A more extensive range of recreational, educational and cultural facilities can be found in Torquay, approximately 5 miles away, which has the highly regarded Torquay Grammar Schools for boys and girls and, of course, its marina. Torbay, known as ‘the English Riviera’, has over 10 miles of coastline combining the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and featuring a splendid mix of cliff tops, beaches and hidden coves. Due to the warming effects of the Gulf Stream, the area benefits from a mild climate.

The cathedral city of Exeter, approximately 18 miles away, is the most thriving city in the South West. The city offers a wealth of cultural activities with the theatre, the museum, arts centre and a variety of good shopping. Many primary and secondary schools can be found in Exeter including Exeter School and The Maynard School, whilst Exeter University is one of the best universities in the country. Exeter International Airport provides an ever-increasing number of flights to domestic and international destinations, including daily flights to London City Airport.

The entrance to Bay View House is accessed via a mobile-operated intercom entry gate, which leads to a large parking area as well as a double garage. There is also a drive to the side of the property that leads down to a further level paved area, providing further space for parking vehicles or a boat. A Thyssenkrupp lift from the garage leads to the first floor level, as well as a series of stairs with sleek glass and stainless steel balustrades that continue to the garden and ground floor.

The large, level garden is attractively landscaped, laid to lawn with a spacious paved terrace to the front of the house which provides the perfect space for al fresco dining, entertaining and appreciating the vista. Panoramic views can be enjoyed from all of the garden and are truly magnificent, taking in Thatcher’s Rock to Portland Bill on a clear day. At the boundary, a wildflower meadow creates an easy-to-maintain haven for wildlife and birds.
