The village itself has a friendly feel with several clubs, sporting societies and a primary school, making it a great location for families with younger children. There’s a village farmshop, bakery, pharmacy, and of course a local pub -The Unicorn. Marden’s library houses archives from its 1,000-year history. Nature-lovers will appreciate the nearby Marden Meadows – this Site of Special Scientific Interest, with rare plants and animals boasts one of the best remaining examples of unimproved haymeadows in Kent. Maidstone leisure centre is the nearest at Mote Park offering swimming, sports club and local gym.
Marden has it's own charming primary school, nearby you have St Margarets Collier Street C Of E Primary School in Tonbridge and also Staplehurst primary school which is only 2.8 miles away. Secondary schools include Mascalls in Paddock Wood which is a popular mixed school. Maidstone offers fantastic grammar schools such as Invicta Grammar School for girls and Oakwood Park Grammar School for boys, which are on average 8.5 miles from Appledown Grange.

Marden has it's own railway station, which is on the South Eastern main life connecting to London Bridge in approximately 1 hour 24 minutes. Marden has good road links to the A229 and A21, which makes for easy access to the vibrant towns of Maidstone, 8 miles to the North, and Tunbridge Wells, 14 miles to the West meaning you’re close to everything larger towns have to offer and making it easy to enjoy an ideal mix of country and town living. Ebbsfleet Internation Station is accessed via the M2 and is approximately 25 miles from Appledown Grange. The direct high speed rail service to London St Pancreas takes just 15 minutes! Motorway links to Maidstone, Dover and London are on the A249 leading to the M2 and M20. The A21 is 8 miles away providing access to the coastal town of Hastings for those sunny days.
