Historically a mining town, Llanelli grew significantly in the 18th and 19th century due to coal mining and the tinplate industry. By the latter half of the 19th century Llanelli became such a significant regional producer of tin it was christened ‘Tinopolis’. Today, Llanelli is a lively, growing town nestled within traditional villages and rural communities.
