There’s lots to do in the local area. The Norman Leeds Castle with its 500 acre parkland boasts falconry demonstrations, the rip-roaring treetop adventures of Go Ape, and a brilliant hedge maze. With romantic towers, an audio tour and a gift shop, the castle is perfect for a family day out.

Living in Maidstone means you’ll be able to enjoy relaxing boat trips along the peaceful River Medway, as well as the more energetic pastimes of walking, cycling or a spot of golf in the award-winning Mote Park. There’s a lot to do in the evening too as Hazlitt Arts Centre has a programme of events, including live music, comedy and drama. You can also catch the latest film release at the Odeon cinema or meet friends at the Hollywood Bowl or the variety of nightclubs, pubs and restaurants dotted around Maidstone – there’s something to suit all tastes.

Maidstone is surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is perfect for getting out and about in the North Downs, enjoying the fantastic countryside or exploring quaint sleepy villages. Alternatively, you can experience high octane adventures such as watersports, go-karting or quad biking.

Education

As well as being an ideal location for commuters, Maidstone is also very family friendly with 23 primary schools and 15 secondary schools. The town is home to some particularly sought-after schools, including Maidstone Grammar School, Oakwood Park Grammar School (boys only), Maidstone Grammar School for Girls and Invicta Grammar School (girls only). Higher and further educational courses can be found at Mid Kent College.

The Mall Maidstone is another spacious indoor shopping centre and, on the other side of the River Medway, you can find St Peter's Wharf, known for its clothes, crafts and homeware shops.
