History of the Manor
Princess Pauline Borghese reportedly lived at La Blanchissage to be near her brother during his stay on the island of Elba. It is quite possible that Napoleon himself stayed there before Waterloo.

Before the eighteenth century, the valley was home to a mill and several small tanneries producing fine whitened skins that gave the property its name of "Laundering".

The leather produced provided the giants of Grasse. The perfume was first used to scent gloves and during the 18th century, the glove industry evolved into today's perfume industry.

The stone terraces served to cultivate perfumes for perfumeries, as well as vines and olives. The terraces were watered by a system of canals and an aqueduct that would have been built by Vauban.
