Hilton Smythe welcomes to the market, The Painting Pottery Yard.
The Painting Pottery Yard has recently moved premises in 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic. This was to allow for changes in demand. The business has been a real labour of love for the owner and family and is well stocked and beautifully presented.
The business is now being sold, reluctantly and with a heavy heart only due to ill health. The owner is keen to see her beloved business pass to an ambitious new owner who can take this great little business to the next level.
The business is a relaxed studio in which you can paint you chosen pottery. Parties and workshops for all ages for pottery painting have taken place but placed on hold during current situations due to social distancing. There has been parent and tot sessions and seasonal craft workshops in the past that have been successful, along with adults and ladies’ evenings which have always been well attended.
The business has taken off since opening and now has a good established business with other local establishments. They offer mobile workshops with local care homes and dementia day units albeit on hold due to current Covid 19 situations. The supply of catering and birthday plate to the local soft play centre was successful but now ceased due to recent events. These all bringing in extra revenue to The Painting Pottery Studio.
The premises are equipped with a full pottery painting studio, along with a now very successful mobile paint at home kit and craft kits due to the pandemic, this has now taken off and has been the main focus on the business since the recent move. Customers are happy to have pottery kits delivered to their door to keep safe. We have increased our range of options for pottery painting which now includes Foam Clay on pottery and wooden figures. Acrylic paints are now a popular option for paint at home kits as items do not need to be returned for glazing and firing in the kiln. They have also diamond art craft kits along with airdry model making clay and model clay which is returned to be fired and then painted at a later date.
They have widened our area of potential customers for the paint at home kits and had a good response from this. They also offer air dry clay as an option to try and also wet clay modelling. We offer pet prints not only in paint but in wet clay for keepsakes. Also offering hand and footprints for new babies for keepsakes and gifts for loved ones.
They have recently started another avenue of hand casting of children, families and pets which is still a new idea in the early stages but proving popular. They have introduced little craft kits of diamond art which prove popular in the takeaway kits, along with the wooden foam clay kits.
Due to there recent move, they have scaled back their opening hours to a booking only system offering a one group/family sitting up to 8 people at a time which falls in line with the current Covid situation allowing families to stay safe in a safe and secure setting. The new premises are located in a rural farm area with free parking and accessible by car. The new premises are only temporary and could be moved at any point back into a shop fronted location should any suitable properties come available or the option to extend in the current location to enable more table bookings should the current Covid 19 situation improve.
Due to the current situation, the business is concentrating on takeaway kits and mobile events in line with current government guidelines as well as offering seating for up to 8 people with the option to expand in the current location. The business is keeping up contact with the previous location in Thirsk and targeting the area via social media and advertising for potential customers. The sale price includes all fixtures and fittings, pottery stock, full handover and transition period for the new owners. All ongoing business and diary bookings and online web services and social media platforms.
Whilst the business had no option but to move, they have sought other avenues to bring in revenue to keep the business afloat during the difficult times of Covid 19, with the main focus on taking he business more mobile. The new premises are coded gate entry. Free parking, toilet facilities. The main studio holds the pottery stock and seating along with till area and sink area. There is additional room for storage and equipment storage and pottery glazing area. There is the added bonus of outdoor seating (weather permitting) with beautiful views of North Yorkshire countryside.
Location The Painting Pottery Yard is ideally situated just outside Thirsk, Thirsk is home to the World of James Heriott and famous TV series’ set.
The studio is located in converted farm buildings on an up and coming site, offering other facilities on site such as dog grooming, boxing club, dance studio, wood workers, fruit and veg facilities and storage for caravans & cars as well as general storage. There are fields near by offering beautiful views of the North Yorkshire countryside. There is the security of it being a gated entrance and coded building entrance. Free parking on site. Lease is on a monthly basis so the option to move to shop fronted premises is an option when ready to bring this business back to street viewing and footfall of locals and tourists.
