Probably the most unique property in Thanet this ‘one off' Mediterranean style villa, adjacent to St Lawrence school playing fields, will take your breath away. As you wander down the very long driveway behind electric gates you will think you have been transported to an oasis in warmer climes when you see the chalet bungalow for the first time, with its grapevine and palm trees wafting in the breeze. Nestling in the midst of 0.276 acres of secure and secluded gardens you can immediately sense the feeling of space. This is enhanced even further as you walk through the impressive porch and front door and into the vast light and airy open plan hall with its wood and wrought iron staircase and an archway to the very impressive lounge/dining room. This whole area is ideal for family living but makes a wonderful entertainment area for large parties or more intimate dinners. Beyond the lounge double glass doors lead you to a charming study where you can work in peace and also be able to pop outside through the french doors to a large and impressive courtyard with its outdoor loggia incorporating a bar and games area, if you are looking for inspiration. There is also a ‘snug' or playroom/music room incorporating a stunning stained glass window and patio doors to the off street parking area for numerous vehicles with its fascinating brick columns supporting the balcony above. The nearly 36ft kitchen/breakfast room flows through from the hall in the other direction and is any cook's dream. It includes two central islands with a breakfast bar, a range cooker, plenty of very high quality wood storage units and granite work tops. This leads to a delightful garden room with a wall of windows and french doors overlooking another courtyard as well as to a cloakroom and large utility room with access to the garden as well as a trendy family bathroom incorporating a circular Jacuzzi bath. As if that was not enough there is also a door to what could be an annex for an elderly relative or for older children wanting their own space. It includes a shower room and a sitting room and a wrought iron and wood staircase to a lovely galleried bedroom under a vaulted ceiling.

What the Owner says:
“We fell in love with the place the moment we saw it. We really appreciated the feeling of space and privacy despite being near the town centre, as well as the villa's unique qualities that includes some superb quality features such as the staircases, the beautiful wood doors, the brick pillars and the beamed and vaulted ceilings. Although it has everything you need for modern day living you can still feel the echoes of the past as it had its origins in the 1920s, but has been considerably extended and enhanced in recent years.
However as our family have now all ‘flown the nest' we feel it is time to downsize but we still want to live in the same area as it is so convenient. There is a nearby shop if you need something in a hurry and it it an easy walk to the station if you want to commute to London. You can walk or cycle into the centre of town in with its marina and harbour as well as high street stores and individual shops and a variety of excellent restaurants, numerous bars and cafes along Harbour Parade. For anyone with young children the sandy beach is not far away and there is easy road access to Canterbury and Dover. As well as the excellent Chatham House and Clarendon Grammar school there is also St Lawrence College private school literally on the doorstep and for younger members of the family there are a number of primary and prep schools including Newlands and Chilton Primary schools, Wellesley and St Lawrence Junior school”.
