An excellent period cottage with exceptional views.

Location

Blockley is situated within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh. A large part of the village is designated as a Conservation Area to protect its rich history. The village has a thriving community enjoying a Post Office, park, village shop and café, primary school, hotel, two public houses, three village halls and a sports and social club. Blockley was voted the best place to live in the south west by the Sunday Times in 2017.

The village lies 3.5 miles from Chipping Campden school (rated ‘Outstanding ‘ by Ofsted in 2017). Moreton-in-Marsh (3.5 miles) has a mainline rail station serving Worcester, Oxford and London Paddington. Cirencester, Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham offer an excellent choice of shops, leisure and cultural amenities and schools. The countryside is designated as a special landscape area and is perfect for walking and riding. There are many historic houses and gardens in the immediate locality.

Description

View Cottage is a beautifully presented detached period cottage with flexible and light accommodation set out over two floors. Of particular note are the truly spectacular views that the property enjoys due to its elevated situation on the edge of Blockley, a highly regarded and popular North Cotswold village.

The property is approached via electric timber gates leading to parking. A hardwood front door opens to the hall with doors to the sitting room and snug. The well-proportioned sitting room has fitted book/display cases, underfloor heating and a handsome fireplace housing a wood burning stove. Double doors open out onto the rear terrace which is perfect for enjoying the panoramic view. The spacious kitchen/dining room is fitted with an excellent range of base units beneath Corian work surfaces and there is ample room for a table and chairs. Also on the ground floor is cloakroom and a utility/boot room with a back door, and space for washing machine and tumble-dryer. A staircase leads from the snug to a charming guest bedroom suite with vaulted ceiling and fitted wardrobe and en-suite shower room.

An excellent principal bedroom suite is accessed from a second staircase rising from the kitchen. Two further bedrooms and a family bathroom are accessed from the same landing. To the rear is a raised decked terrace accessed from the kitchen/dining room. Steps lead down to the rear lawned garden with summerhouse. There are exceptional views over the deer park and on towards distant rolling hills and Brailes Hill. Steps lead down to an area of agricultural land which is kept mown. To the side of the property is a courtyard garden with raised flower borders, wood store and space for a garden shed. Secure parking is available to the front of the property behind electric gates.
