Built by renowned Scottish architect jj Burnet, who designed the majority of the buildings at Killean Estate, the arts and crafts cottages are of stone and slate construction and are semi-detached, with two bedrooms each. The a-listed
cottages form two pairs of semi-detached properties of which three are included in the sale.
The cottages have in recent years been modernised for use as holiday lets; however, have not been used since 2018 and are in need of light refurbishment. Retaining many original features, the cottages are all of similar layout and comprise sitting room, dining kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and front porch with impressive views.
The cottages have their own access directly from the main road with parking to the rear, front and back garden areas and offer significant potential for holiday lets. The cottages have electric heating, mains water and private drainage to a septic tank. Each cottage is for sale individually as described in the following lots.
Lot 1 – The Doll’s House
Lot 2 – The Boatman’s Cottage
Lot 3 – The Keeper’s Cottage

The Kintyre Peninsula itself is popular with tourist and has plenty of attractions to offer including great sea fishing and sailing. The stunning coast road down the peninsula leads through the estate. Campbeltown is less than 20 miles to the south and is one of the largest towns in Argyll, often popular with tourists exploring the peninsula. There are three distilleries in the town, which also has its own airfield. Just south of Campbeltown is the popular tourist village of Machrihanish which boasts a famous links golf course and stunning beaches.
North of the estate, the road leads through a number of famous Argyll towns; Tarbert has a stunning marina and ferry link over to the Kyles of Bute. Further north, Lochgilphead, Oban and Inverary have a number of attractions and great opportunities for sailing and sight-seeing. The main road to Glasgow is a spectacular drive through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
