Directions If entering Modbury on the A 379 from the Plymouth direction, drive down the hill through the centre of Modbury. Continue around the right hand bend at the end of Broad Street and take the first left on the next bend, by D & D Garage, into Scalders Lane. The town has a medical centre, optician, dentist and vets as well as the ancient parish church and a primary school. There are bus connections to Kingsbridge, 8 miles to the south east and to Plymouth, 12 miles to the west, with full city facilities, Derriford Hospital, mainline railway station and airport. There are magnificent sandy beaches only 5 miles away at Bigbury-on-Sea and Wonwell, with The South Devon Coast Path offering glorious walks as well as numerous rural footpaths nearer Modbury. About 5 miles north of Modbury is the A38 Expressway and just north of this is the contrasting rugged splendour of Dartmoor.
