*** hut 27 *** Seashore Village is a newly constructed “Beach Hut Village” in the popular resort of Felixstowe, the first such development in the country and consisting of 27 beach huts (2.43m x 2.13m - 8ft x 7ft) the development being constructed on behalf of East Suffolk Council by Gipping Construction following initial project designs by architects Chase Designs.
The development is created as part of the ongoing regeneration of Felixstowe's South Seafront and set in landscaped grounds with ramp access from both Sea Road and the promenade. The huts will primarily be set around a central "Fish shaped" lawn area.
In addition to the 27 identical size beach huts, which have door clearance width of 1.29m (4ft 3") and height to ridges of 2.5m (8ft 4") polyester mineral felt roofing and both supplied and installed on site by Spillings Joinery, the development also incorporates five single storey accessible "pods" built from self insulating panels "pod" for hire by community groups or families and capable of being opened to a larger "Pod" if required.
Much needed new public conveniences with changing placed facilities are also to be included.
All huts are internally boarded out with 15mm ply and feature a hinged bench seat to one side and ply worktop. Doors feature heavy duty marine graded hinges and the huts exteriors feature "secret nail" 22mm ship lap cladding with a minimum of three coats of coloured Sadolin Superdec Wood Stain which is better suited and longer lasting than paint equivalent.
Slightly to the South of Seashore Village but also newly created as part of the development and regeneration is the a new activity park featuring outdoor gym exercise facilities, a climbing wall, table tennis facilities, Pentaque court, accessible picnic benches withchess tables and an outdoor space for workouts.
Felixstowe is a highly popular Seaside resort identified by "Which" in 2021 as one of the UK's best seaside towns, this being just one of many accolades recently received including in 2023 The Times, Sunday Times and The Guardian "One of the best places to live in the East of England".
The resort offers four miles of seafront / promenade stretching at one end from the Felixstowe Ferry at the mouth of the River Deben down to Landguard Common with Landguard Fort and beyond to the mouth of The Deben Estuary.
The two main beaches, Felixstowe North and Felixstowe South are both "Blue Flag" beaches, an award only presented to well managed beaches with excellent water quality. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the beaches in designated areas between 1st May & 30th September.
Additionally Felixstowe is renowned for its historic Sea Front gardens which were beautifully restored in 2016 and are what enables the town to be known as "The Garden Resort of East Anglia"
Close to Seashore Village is Felixstowe Pier which was reconstructed in 2017 and also close by are many of the usual Seafront facilities, Kiosks serving hot and cold drinks, Ice Cream, Fish and Chips, amusement arcades, play areas and numerous restaurants including the "SeaYou" café and restaurant which proves popular, was newly constructed and opened in 2022.
Felixstowe Leisure Centre is located close by, public car parks are nearby in Sea Road and Undercliff Road West and on road parking is also available.
Early reservations of huts at "Seashore Village" are advised in order to avoid potential disappointment.
Please note that it will not be permitted for the beach huts in Seashore Village to be let out by private owners, they are for personal use only.
