Features and description
- Leasehold
When you think of Brighton you think of the beach, and when you think of the beach the colourful images of the pretty beach huts always come to mind.
Their concertina roofs and colourful facades lining the promenade have become as iconic as Brighton Rock and the ‘Palace Pier’ - and now you have the opportunity to buy your very own!
This one is in a prime location on Hove’s clean and quiet seafront, sandwiched between the Lawns and the pebble beach at the bottom of Grand Avenue - for beach lovers and sea swimmers this is a rare opportunity to buy up a slight of Brighton & Hove’s unique history.
Style: Beach Hut on Hove Seafront
Location: Grand Avenue
Why you’ll like it:
The humble beach hut began its life on wheels as a bathing machine to hide the modesty of the Victorians, flocking to Brighton to bathe in the sea; known at the time for its curative qualities. Today however, with wheels removed, and in a rainbow of colours, these sweet chalet houses lining the promenade, have become one of the most fashionable acquisitions for any true Brightonian!
This immaculate hut is painted, like its neighbours, the standard ‘beach hut green and red’ with classic blue and white stripes on the doors - but you can paint the doors whichever colour you choose and Brewers in Hove are more than happy to help you pick out another colour - then when you buy the green and red with them, they’ll give you a litre of door paint free! The doors can be painted whatever colour you like and they also open outwards so they act as a windbreak in more blustery moments! If you need any future repairs there are lots of local tradesmen who provide a specific ‘beach hut’ service too.
There’s a shower and a water tap nearby, so great after a dip in the sea, and to fill the kettle for a warming cuppa, and there are two toilets for use just 100m either way down the beach. There are also two cafes, and Morocco’s - famed for its ice cream and fish platters, is just a minute down the road.
If you don’t live within walking distance of the beach, you can park very reasonably in Third Avenue, and there are several local bars and restaurants on Church Road to be enjoyed in the evening if you are making a day/night of it.
It’s a very sociable affair with neighbours often coming together for barbecues, and it’s a great place to host a party, or just sit and watch the eclectic mix of people in Brighton stroll on by.
The i360 is within an easy walk, as is the pier for extra entertainment, but this end of the beach has such a chilled atmosphere, you’ll probably want to stay put, soaking up the sun and contemplating what flavour ice cream to have next!
Agent’s thoughts:
For beach lovers and sea swimmers this is a rare opportunity to buy up a slight of Brighton & Hove’s unique history.
Owner’s thoughts:
“This beach hut has not only proven to be a fantastic investment, but the whole family have been able to use it regularly over the years - we have lots of happy memories here, and just owning a little bit of Brighton’s character and history feels rather special.”
Where it is:
Shops: Local 2 min walk, city centre 15 min walk
Train Station: Brighton Station 25 min walk
This Beach hut is great for anyone living on the seafront who may not have a garden of their own, but if you live further away, you can easily drive and park at this end of the beach, and Hove Station is a 10 minute walk for those visiting from further afield!
