Also worth a look is Brockley Market, held in the Lewisham College car park (much nicer than it sounds) each and every Saturday. Other lovely local green spaces are Hilly Fields and Ladywell Fields.

For more options, Nunhead isn’t far (fc Soper wet fish shop is one of the best in London), with a handful of good pubs and cafes and a community centre and Victorian library. New Cross, Deptford, Peckham and Greenwich centres are also local.
