About this property

This three-bedroom, mid-century-built house is located on a peaceful cul-de-sac within Blackheath's leafy Westcombe Park Conservation Area. Accommodation unfolds across three floors, with thoughtful new additions including an open-plan kitchen and utility area. Thanks to its elevated plot, views extend beyond its large, private garden, stretching as far as the dramatic Canary Wharf skyline. Transport connections are excellent, with direct routes to the City in 20 minutes.

    The Tour

The house has a discrete and peaceful approach up a cul-de-sac, tucked away from the main road. All timber-framed glazing on the façade of the house has been recently replaced and is painted in a steel-blue tone.

The ground floor is primarily occupied by a newly renovated open-plan kitchen and separate utility area. Oak veneer cabinets are in tune with the overarching mid-century appeal, while white stone countertops add a contemporary dimension. Appliances are integrated and include stacked Miele ovens, gas hob, dishwasher and Quooker hot water tap.

An sage green-painted steel column signals the point at which the house was previously extended. This area now encompasses an additional living space and a dining area, which sits alongside glazed sliding doors to the well-planted garden. A home office (and/or guest bedroom) can be found at the front of the plan, with an accent of glass-block ribbon along the internal wall. There’s also a WC opposite for ease.

Herringbone-pattern carpeted stairs with wallpaper designed by Stig Lindberg and an original 1960s timber banister ascends to an imposing 28-foot-long, dual-aspect living area laid with large format oak parquet flooring. There is ample space here for entertaining, and views peer over into the garden. Full-height sliding doors separate the stairwell and living space with ease and deftly conceal the second staircase to the bedrooms.

Three bedrooms are located on the second floor, two of which are doubles and have built-in wardrobes. Alongside is a shared bathroom with a rubber floor, a bathtub and an overhead shower fixture.

    Outside Space

The house has a private, 18-metre-long garden with a large summerhouse and adjoining store at the far end. The current owners have landscaped the terraced section adjacent to the house, introducing curved Corten steel beds that meander around the paving. Beyond them, a well-kept lawn provides further outdoor space with Iroko trellis fencing lining the boundary and mature bushes either side. There is parking directly at the front of the house with an EV charging point.

    The Area

Peachum Road is a 10-minute walk from Greenwich Park, one of London's eight Royal Parks with its mix of 17th-century landscape, stunning gardens and a history dating back to Roman times.

Blackheath village and Greenwich are both nearby, with an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the popular Greenwich market for art, antiques clothing and food. There is also a Picturehouse cinema and theatre with a nationally regarded, year-round programme. The Old Royal Naval College - designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the 18th century - hosts a popular programme of events in the gardens, including concerts, open-air theatre and a jazz festival.

There are a number of good local schools in the area including Halstow School, Sherington, Fossedene and Invicta at primary level. At senior level, the John Roan and Thomas Tallis are nearby options. The Pointer School is a nearby independent school as well as Blackheath High School for Girls.

Westcombe Park is the closest train station (seven minutes away on foot) with regular Southeastern services to London Cannon Street in 20 minutes. There is an Underground station at North Greenwich (Jubilee line) and both Greenwich station and Cutty Sark are on the DLR route, which connects to Canary Wharf, Stratford and Bank. The Thames Clipper can be boarded from Greenwich Pier and runs services to Westminster.
