This character period home is proudly situated towards the end of a private lane and has been in the care of the current owners for around 17 years. During this time, they have extensively renovated and thoughtfully extended the property, creating a spacious, free flowing four bedroom, three reception room residence with broad appeal and flexibility.
Entry is via a welcoming hallway, featuring a distinctive cubed glass side panel, which opens into the inner hall - once the formal dining area and still used as such on special occasions and during the festive season. Stairs rise from here to the first floor.
The dual aspect lounge features a striking fireplace with brick surround, timber lintel, and an inset wood burning stove set on a slate hearth. Wall lights and lovely views over the side and rear gardens complete this inviting space. Steps lead down to the garden room, which offers glorious panoramic views of the grounds. French doors open to a patio - an ideal spot for al fresco dining or evening drinks in fair weather. The garden room is finished with a slated roof, window sills, and an Aga wood burning stove.
The kitchen/breakfast room is well appointed with solid wooden units, polished stone worktops, and a Belfast style sink. Included in the sale are an oil fired Aga with an electric companion Aga, as well as a fridge and dishwasher. The tiled floor, recessed downlights, and walk-in pantry with slated shelving make this a functional and stylish space.
A large utility room completes the ground floor, offering plumbing for appliances, two walk-in storage cupboards, and a fully tiled shower/wet room.
The first floor offers four generous double bedrooms. The principal suite enjoys a dual aspect with lovely views and access to an enclosed roof terrace perfect for enjoying a morning coffee. This room also benefits from a fully tiled en-suite bathroom with panelled bath, overhead shower, and quality sanitary ware.
The remaining three bedrooms, each with charming views, share a well equipped family shower room with a large walk-in cubicle, mains shower, modern fittings, and an illuminated touch sensitive mirror.
Keeper’s Cottage champions sustainable living, with pv solar panels, a borehole water supply, private drainage, and underfloor heating (via a ground source heat pump, except in the kitchen). An abundant supply of firewood fuels the two wood burning stoves. Additional eco-friendly features include UPVC double glazing and sun tubes that enhance natural light in the single storey areas.
Situated towards the end of a long private lane shared with only a handful of neighbouring homes, the property enjoys a sweeping driveway with ample parking. A double carport features an electric vehicle charging point, while a powered workshop with mezzanine storage sits alongside.
The gardens and grounds are a true highlight - beautifully landscaped and lovingly developed by the current owners. The grounds extend to all sides of the home and beyond the lane, amounting to 2.94 acres in total. Immediately surrounding the house are level lawns and terraces ideal for entertaining or for children to play safely. Beyond this, beautifully stocked flowerbeds and meandering paths lead through richly planted areas teeming with wildlife. Multiple seating spots offer quiet corners to sit and appreciate the natural beauty.
To the rear, the enclosed paddock is well fenced and suitable for keeping poultry or small livestock, complete with a stable, shed, and storage building. On the far side of the land, the garden borders a small stream and features woodland style planting with seasonal displays of snowdrops and bluebells. A charming timber cabin with front decking provides both practical storage and a peaceful retreat.
Keeper’s Cottage is truly a rare find - offering an enviable lifestyle for gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
