  • Tucked away location and set back from the road

  • Gorgeous gardens

  • Stylish modernist space with scope for improvement

  • Driveway and Garage

This beautifully constructed and unique Scandinavian cedar clad chalet style detached property is ideally located. It is only a short distance from Tonbridge town centre and the station, but close to the surrounding countryside for delightful walks. Built by the renowned Swedish company Scandia-hus in the early 1990s, the timber framed house was well ahead of its time; being environmentally friendly using sustainable timber and very energy efficient with triple glazed windows and high levels of insulation included as standard.

It is set very well back off a layby from Higham Lane and includes a driveway and a single garage with automatic electric doors as well as a block paved pathway bordered by delightful shrubs that leads to the main entrance. The solid wood front door opens into the warm and welcoming hallway with a coat cupboard, a very useful shower room and beautiful polished pine flooring that flows through much of the property. Many of the rooms also feature pine ceilings including the spacious dual aspect sitting room with patio doors to the rear veranda. While the dual aspect dining room is where guests will enjoy sitting down for special celebrations and more formal get togethers.

Also dual aspect, providing plenty of natural light and a friendly ambience, is the delightful and well-proportioned kitchen/breakfast room with plenty of space for a table and chairs and where the family can spend much of their time. It includes warm red wall tiles and a raft of attractive wood fronted shaker style units housing a built in four ring hob, extractor and fan oven as well as an integrated fridge freezer, while the adjacent fitted utility room has space for laundry facilities and a door to the garden.

On the first floor there is a vast landing with light flooding in through a veritable wall of windows and a useful airing cupboard as well as access to the loft. This flexible space makes an ideal seating/study area where you can enjoy the far reaching views or could be converted into an additional bedroom. It leads to the spacious family bathroom that has a bath, bidet, toilet and vanity basin as well to three bedrooms including two with built in cupboards and the charming principal room with a high vaulted ceiling, cross beams and three built in double wardrobes.

What the Owner says:
I really love this location and have lived in this area since the early 1960s as it has everything I need. I had this fascinating property built in 1991 as my dream home and have been thrilled to live in it ever since. It is bright and spacious and a great place for entertaining friends and family, but sadly health issues mean I have to pass the baton on to new owners. Because the house is set so far back off the road it is very quiet and peaceful. However there is easy access to Tonbridge town centre and also to the countryside with Higham Wood just a minute away, so I feel I have the best of all worlds.
It is also only four minutes from Poult Wood and the golf course while Tonbridge station is just seven minutes away. Here trains to London Bridge take just half an hour so you can be in the City or the West End, door to door, within an hour. Higham Lane also leads to the A26 for easy access to the A21 and the M20/M25 motorways.
The historic town of Tonbridge includes a Norman castle built in the 13th century on the banks of the River Medway. This adjoins Tonbridge Park with its swimming pool, tennis courts, miniature railway, putting green and children's play area. While the mainline station is a junction for two railway lines so, not only can you easily get to London, but also to a variety of places in Kent and Sussex.
The vibrant town includes a plethora of independent shops, hair and beauty salons.
