Kingswells, the nearest large settlement, is a town located approximately 7 miles West of Aberdeen, along the A92. The population according to the 2022 census was 4850. The town is more like a suburb of Aberdeen, with access to the city within a short drive or by public transport. Kingswells has existed as a village for centuries, but only beginning in the 1980s did it expand as a result of the boom in the oil industry.
