Dating back to 1074, Shrewsbury has a rich heritage with more than 660 listed buildings, a red sandstone castle, an abbey and a cathedral. The birthplace of Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury was built alongside the River Severn and has nine bridges and many pretty riverside walks, a riverboat and the bankside Theatre Severn. For history and culture visit the impressive Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and see St Chad's a round church close to the 29 acre, Quarry Park featuring The Dingle, a landscaped sunken garden. The town has a wealth of sports clubs including cricket, rowing, rugby, running and motorsports, while Shrewsbury Sports Village is a modern sports centre. The Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are also within easy reach.


There are a number of primary schools within one mile of Bowbrook Meadows including Oxon Primary, Woodfield Infant School, Saint George's Junior School and Radbrook Primary School. The town's medieval 'shuts' - passageways linking streets - are home to a variety of boutiques, while latest fashion and chain stores can be found at the Darwin and Pride hill shopping centres. Bowbrook Meadows just over two miles from Shrewsbury town centre and is just a few minutes' drive from the A5, the town's major trunk road that leads to the M54 and Telford, 14 miles away and on to the M6 and the West Midlands. Wolverhampton is approximately 36 miles and Birmingham about 50. The town is well-served by bus and coach services and has three park and rides. Trains run from Shrewsbury Railway Station to Birmingham in just under an hour as well as to Telford, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Cardiff and a new service direct to London's Euston was launched in December 2014. For air travel Manchester and Birmingham Airports are both about 64 miles.
