The historic town of Shrewsbury was first established by the Saxons and, as the host of beautiful timber-frame buildings indicate, shaped mostly by the Tudors. The town centre is nestled in a loop of the River Severn so you’ll be able to enjoy the many pretty riverside walks, a riverboat trip or a visit to the Theatre Severn on the bankside. This is celebrated by the Darwin Trail around town which passes the Quantum Leap sculpture on the riverbank created to mark Darwin’s 200th birthday.
