Heroic efforts by team members help Zoopla raises over £66,000 for charity in 2019
Zoopla, the UK’s most comprehensive property destination, is delighted to announce that employees at its offices raised over £66,000 for charity in 2019. The bumper donation means over 40 charitable organisations have benefitted from donations, with six of these, including Crisis and Children in Need, chosen as official employee-nominated charity partners.
In Zoopla’s London head-office, where Crisis was the chosen charity partner, employees took part in raising money for the charity’s Christmas Wish List and 12 people volunteered at its centre on the 27th of December. Regionally, Zoopla’s team in Redruth, which looks after its range of industry-leading software solutions, donated over £7,800 to the Cornwall Air Ambulance through a skydive and a 25km trek in the Brecon Beacons. The office in Pocklington, York, home to Alto, raised over £5,000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance by organising a charity football match and completed the New Forest Half Marathon. One member of staff took a more sedentary route to fundraising, playing Apex Legends & Fortnite for a solid 12 hours! Elsewhere Zoopla’s Brackley office, home to Jupix, PSG and PropertyFile, raised over £1,100 from activities including a summer raffle and a 5km Santa Splash Challenge. Their donation benefitted Katharine House Hospice, a charity that provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire, South Northamptonshire & South Warwickshire.
Beyond fundraising efforts taking place by individual teams and colleagues, Zoopla also helps support its charity partners through a number of initiatives:
Donation Matching: Zoopla will match up to £500 raised from fundraising events and activities in aid of its six employee-nominated charity partners, and up to £250 for any other charity.
Good Deed Day: Employees are entitled to a full day's annual leave to volunteer for a registered charity or non-profit organisation that is close to their heart.
Payroll Giving: Zoopla matches employees' monthly donations to charity by up to £40 a month for its main charity partners, or up to £20/month for any other charity.
Commenting on the donation, Catrin Anderson, Chief People Officer at Zoopla, said: ”We are extremely proud to support such important local charities up and down the country. At Zoopla, we feel that we have an opportunity to make a positive impact with charities at a national level, such as with our efforts to support Crisis, but also within the local communities where our employees and customers live. When it comes to our charity work, we focus on causes that are close to the hearts of our employees.
“We’re a passionate bunch at Zoopla, and it’s great to see so many team members take on daunting challenges to support our fundraising targets. We look forward to continuing to support a diverse range of charities and organisations in 2020 and beyond.”
Stephanie Bray, Corporate Fundraising Officer at The Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “Cornwall Air Ambulance is so grateful to the Zoopla team, who have kindly supported the charity for the last 12 months. The team has trekked, run, baked and everything in-between to help their local air ambulance, and it has been a real pleasure to partner with them. Their incredible donations will help to fund Cornwall Air Ambulance’s life-saving missions across the county.”
The donation from Zoopla is part of the company’s wider efforts to support good causes close to its offices. To learn more about the charity work Zoopla is involved in, please visit https://careers.zoopla.co.uk/corporate-social-responsibility/.
