New year kicks off with a surge in house hunter interest

Leading property search website Zoopla.co.uk is reporting record levels of traffic, searches and leads as home-moving enquiries get off to a strong start in the first few days of 2011. During the first 4 days of January this year, visitors to Zoopla.co.uk were up by an impressive 102% compared to the same period last year.
In the period between Jan 1st and Jan 4th 2011 over 1 million property searches were conducted on the Zoopla.co.uk website, at an average rate of over 180 unique searches per minute. And, more importantly from a market standpoint, Zoopla is reporting that enquiry levels are up by a staggering 251% (with vendor appraisal leads up by 258%) compared to the same period last year, equating to over 10 leads per minute (24 hours per day) currently being sent to its agent and developer members across the UK.
On Jan 3rd alone, Zoopla.co.uk served over 2.9 million page impressions, eclipsing its previous record of 2.1 million set back in September. These record figures come after Zoopla kicked off its latest TV campaign on Jan 1st as it ramps up its aggressive marketing strategy to build its brand and increase its market share.
